Colloquio Internazionale “Where are you going? Reconsidering migration in the Metal Ages“
La Commissione Scientifica “Metal Ages in Europe” dell’ Unione Internazionale di Scienze Preistoriche e Protostoriche (U.I.S.P.P.) organizza il suo annuale colloquio scientifico per il 2019. Si terrà a Edimburgo dal 9 al 10 novembre 2019 ospitato dall’ Università di Edimburgo. Il tema sarà sulla mobilità umana nelle età dei metalli in Europa, con casi di studio o approcci teorici. Le lingue ufficiali del Colloquio saranno inglese e francese. È prevista la pubblicazione degli atti in forma peer review.

The 5th Doctoral Meeting of the European School of Protohistory of Bibracte will be held on March 11 and 13, 2019, at the European Archaeological Center of Bibracte (Burgundy, France).
These Meetings aim to bring together PhD students and young Doctors working on common issues concerning the Bronze and Iron Ages across Europe.
For this year’s meeting, participants are invited to present their research on the following theme: “Transmission during Protohistory“
Contributions can be made in the form of oral presentations (max. 20 minutes) or posters.
Contributions will be selected by the Scientific and the Organizing Committee of the EEPB.
Proposals must be submitted before November 18, 2018.

The origin of the Neolithic and inherent economic, social and ideological changes, as well as their expansion worldwide is one of the most significant events in the history of humankind. The Neolithic constitutes a key theme in Prehistory and Archaeology, as it witnessed the development and consolidation of new social and cultural communities and the decline of the hunter-gatherer way of life.
For this reason, the Unit ‘Archaeology of Social Dynamics’, hosted in the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC-IMF, Barcelona), in collaboration with the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, has organized the 1st Conference on the EARLY NEOLITHIC of EUROPE (Barcelona, 6-8 November, 2019). This conference aims to be a meeting of researchers studying the early Neolithic in Europe and surroundings areas, in relation with the neolithisation process in the continent. This process followed different rhythms and presented singularities in each geographic area, and was therefore a very complex phenomenon. In order to address this scientific challenge, the conference is organised in nine thematic sessions:
1. Neolithic spread and supraregional interactions, chaired by Catherine Perlès (Université Paris Nanterre);
2. Chronology and modelling, chaired by Stephen Shennan (University College London);
3. Human–environment interaction, chaired by Jean-François Berger (Université Lumière Lyon);
4. Population characteristics and dynamics, chaired by Mattias Jakobsson (Uppsala Universitet);
5. Territory and settlement, chaired by Daniela Hofmann (University of Hamburg);
6. Subsistence, chaired by Amy Bogaard (University of Oxford);
7. Technological processes, chaired by Annelou van Gijn (Universiteit Leiden);
8. Funerary practices, chaired by Christian Jeunesse (Université de Strasbourg);
9. Symbolism, chaired by Goce Naumov (University Goce Delcev).
EXARC (www.exarc.net) and University of Trento (www.unitn.it) are pleased to announce the 11th Experimental Archaeology Conference (#EAC11), which will be held in University of Trento, Italy, on the 2-4 May 2019.
The 2nd Call for papers is open now.
Send your abstracts for papers and posters to eac11@exarc.net before 15 January 2019. We aim to publish proceedings following on the conference. Abstracts should be maximum 200 words and in MSWord or similar format. The jury will only accept one abstract, either paper or poster, per person. Experimental archaeology encompasses controlled scientific experiments, as well as a vast array of ancient crafts, living history groups and educational activities for example in open-air museums. When results are related back to the archaeological record, the value of Experimental Archaeology is evident, as the information gained would be impossible to obtain from solely examining original artefacts.
Nei giorni 7-8-9 settembre 2018 si terrà il XIV Incontro di Studi Preistoria e Protostoria in Etruria nelle sedi di Valentano (VT), Pitigliano (GR) e Manciano (GR).
Quest’anno il tema monografico sarà:
Archeologia dell’abitare
Insediamenti e organizzazione sociale prima della città
Dai monumenti ai comportamenti
Come sempre il tema riguarda l’Etruria in senso lato e il Lazio, ma per i necessari confronti saranno accettati anche interventi relativi ad aree diverse, dell’Europa e del Mediterraneo.
Nel mese di giugno 2018, nel corso del recente congresso internazionale dell’UISPP di Parigi, il professore Alessandro Guidi è stato nominato presidente della commissione scientifica che si occupa di storia dell’archeologia.
